In trying to shape my goals for next year to resonate the most with student concerns, many people I have had the opportunity to talk to have expressed the sentiment to me that every year they see the same campaigns promising the same goals but students never really get to see concrete impact. The same issues exist at Brown: not every club has adequate resources to pursue their goals, administration is unresponsive to student needs and wants, no one knows what UCS is up to, and more. I resonate with these sentiments and agree that having an entire page of goals on my platform is unrealistic unless there are partnerships with the student organizations on campus who are already doing amazing work for these initiatives.
Restructuring UCS:
My goal for UCS stems is to restructure the organization of UCS so that there are UCS liaisons for each major student group that attend both the UCS meetings and the student group meetings so that they can be there to provide direct resources and a line of communication to UCS and admin as well ass better understand the ongoings of the student group to report back to UCS the projects and initiatives that students are working on. Through this collaboration and incorporation of voices into UCS that have direct experiences working within communities, I feel that the lengthy list of goals I have for UCS can be accomplished. Relying on the expertise of students outside of UCS is a big part of my plans and I am ready, willing, and able to fight for a safe and inclusive campus where all students feel they belong and where all students voices are heard and given adequate resources to.

I’m also assisting Brown CIS to create a one-stop-shop Brown App that would include information regarding all student resources that would be accessible right at the fingertips of students.
